Chantry appoints Constantinos Bassias as vice president of engineering

BOSTON -- Chantry Networks, the leading provider of innovative wireless networking technology, has appointed Constantinos (Costas) Bassias as vice president of engineering. Bassias will be responsible for building on the company's established technical leadership and development of ground-breaking wireless solutions for large-scale and enterprise class networks. Chantry Networks, BeaconWorks(TM), is an award-winning wireless LAN solution that lowers the total cost of ownership of wireless networks, while also providing an easy-to-install system that seamlessly integrates with existing network infrastructures. The complete solution provides not only state-of-the art wireless security, virtualization and scalability features, but also enables customers to leverage existing network resources into a new wireless solution.

Bassias' technical expertise includes Metropolitan Area Resilient Packet Rings, distributed Ethernet switches, multimedia Internet routers, Frame Relay/ATM Access Switches, SNMP and WEB network manager, neural networks and more. He has been an active participant in standards processes, including authoring chapters in proposals to the IEEE, and roles with the IETF and Metro Ethernet Forum.

Bassias joins Chantry Networks following a long line of stellar engineering successes in the data communications and artificial intelligence fields. His work experience includes senior management roles at Lantern Communications, Motorola, Memotec Communications, Nortel, Lockheed Martin Canada and other leading companies. Bassias has a proven track record in product development, new product specification and the evolution and management of product lines.

Bassias is a member of the IEEE, The Canadian Association of Physicists and The Order of Engineers of Greece. He is fluent in English, French and Greek. Bassias holds a doctorate degree in theoretical physics and a master's degree in statistical physics from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. He also earned a bachelor's degree in electrical and electronics engineering, with a specialization in telecommunications from National Polytechnical University, Athens, Greece.
