Blueprint Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm, today announced its $150 million Emerging Communications Fund. The firm, led by general partners Thomas Unterberg and Bart Schachter, simultaneously announced five investments by the fund. The fund will invest in next-generation communications and Internet infrastructure companies.

Blueprint Ventures backs companies building all layers of the next-generation network, from components to systems to service providers.

Concurrent with the fund's closing, Blueprint Ventures announced investments in:

CopperCom, a Santa Clara, CA company that is delivering carrier-class Voice over DSL equipment to incumbent and competitive local exchange carriers.

Flashcom, a Huntington Beach, CA company that is a leading provider of DSL services to residential and small business customers nationwide.

Oresis Communications, a Beaverton, OR company developing the first truly universal carrier class edge switch that seamlessly switches voice, data and video in a single switching platform.

ShareGate, a Reno, NV company that develops broadband residential gateways that enable high-speed internet, voice and video communications to and from the home.

A fifth investment in the wireless broadband services space is imminent.
