PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Bermai, Inc., pioneer of high performance, ultra-integrated chipsets for Wi-Fi applications from wireless LAN to wireless multimedia, today announced a standards-based, 802.11e, wireless multimedia network hardware demonstration to take place at CONNECTIONS(TM) The Digital Home Conference and Showcase, May 5-7, 2004 in the Wyndham Anatole, Dallas, TX.

Implementing the IEEE standard for Quality of Service (QoS) over a Wi-Fi wireless LAN, 802.11e, the Bermai wireless multimedia demonstration delivers multiple, uninterruptible high bandwidth streams with simultaneous data support for connecting to a network or the Internet. The CONNECTIONS demonstration will consist of a Bermai technology-enabled QoS HCCA/WSM media server streaming content wirelessly to an HDTV client, SDTV client, and third party data client simultaneously.

"The success of a wireless multimedia solution will be predicated upon factors as its adherence to agreed-upon industry standards such as 802.11e. Moreover, wireless solutions for video distribution must address the key challenges like real-world throughput at extended ranges and ensuring that high-definition content has appropriate quality-of-service and performance guarantees; even in an environment where data networking signals also abound," states Kurt Scherf, Vice President and Principal Analyst for Parks Associates, CONNECTIONS Conference Co-Host. "Finally, because OEM partners must balance the bill-of-materials (BOM) cost to implement wireless multimedia connectivity with key product differentiation, solutions must be priced competitively. A company that can meet these challenges in providing solutions to the PC and CE industries will be a key technology provider."

"The powerful combination of 11e HCCA/WSM QoS over Bermai's robust Multi-Transceiver (MiMo) architecture delivers the guaranteed bandwidth, range and net data-rate wireless CE device manufacturers have been searching for," said Bruce Sanguinetti, Bermai president and CEO. "In addition we cannot stress enough the importance of cost-effective, standards-based systems to provide interoperability with existing Wi-Fi/802.11 data-centric devices."

Sanguinetti will be speaking on the CONNECTIONS opening plenary session, "Next Steps Digital," Wednesday, May 5th at 4:15 PM. In his presentation he will discuss the multimedia opportunity, QoS over Wi-Fi for the digital home, CE customer requirements and the technological innovations that can guarantee the delivery of bandwidth intensive signals such as HDTV, high rate DVD, and Voice over Wireless LAN (VoWLAN).
