LONDON -- LogicaCMG today announced that it has won a contract with Batelco, a leading telecommunications provider in the Middle East, to upgrade its existing LogicaCMG mobile messaging platform to an IP-based Next Generation Messaging solution. This win further reinforces LogicaCMG’s dominant position in the global mobile messaging market.

Batelco’s upgrade to a Next Generation Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC) will allow the company to significantly expand its mobile messaging capacity and reduce time-to-market for new innovative services that are to be announced at a later stage. Customers will benefit from improved delivery of messages during peak traffic times, ultimately resulting in increased overall customer satisfaction.

In addition, Batelco has selected LogicaCMG’s Direct-delivery Message Router (DMR) to achieve flexible and cost-efficient SMS delivery on a single platform. Batelco will be the first operator in the region to implement DMR within their SMS network.

With built-in store and forward capability, DMR offers robust and consistent service with no additional load on the operator’s network. This helps Batelco maximise network performance and optimise traffic management. The DMR solution requires minimal additional investment and is easily integrated into the existing SMSC platform, which enables Batelco to benefit from a flexible, scalable solution that optimises cost savings across the entire messaging infrastructure.

Hamza Ali, Senior Manager Mobile Services at Batelco, said: “We chose LogicaCMG’s solution based on the reliability and the excellent performance of its products, which has been demonstrated throughout our long standing relationship. Today’s announcement takes our products and services offering forward with a new high-tech solution that will prove to be valuable to our customers. Furthermore, the common all-IP Next Generation architecture will allow us to implement a raft of additional solutions in the future.”
