PARIS -- SEQUANS Communications, a fabless semiconductor company and leading supplier of WiMAX silicon and software, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Axxcelera Broadband Wireless for the supply of its WIMAX silicon. Axxcelera has developed Base Stations and CPE, operating in different frequency bands, using Sequans System on Chip (SoC). The Sequans’ reference designs that were certified by the WiMAX Forum have accelerated Axxcelera’s product development by providing immediate access to Sequans’ already proven technology.
Axxcelera Broadband Wireless is a data networking solutions company that is developing leading-edge technology for the deployment of broadband wireless communications. Axxcelera’s products operate in the 3.3-3.8 GHz and 5 GHz bands and support full and half duplex FDD and TDD operation. They are now being shipped to customers and channel partners. Axxcelera has received WiMAX certification for the ExcelMax Base Station and CPE.
“Time to market is absolutely critical to being competitive in the global WiMAX market and Sequans is the only provider to offer Base Station and Subscriber Station feature-rich WiMAX siliconâ€, said Jamal Hamdani, CEO and President of Axxcelera Broadband Wireless. “Sequans dramatically reduced our development cycle for key WiMAX products and offered the flexibility required to support our broad portfolio of WiMAX products covering large Carriers as well as ISP applicationsâ€.
