Hantro and austriamicrosystems sign licensing deal for Hantro's 7100 VC-1 video decoder on austriamicrosystems' mobile entertainment platform

BARCELONA -- Hantro and austriamicrosystems today announce a licensing agreement for Hantro's 7100 VC-1 video decoding technology on austriamicrosystems' new Mobile Entertainment platform. Hantro's 7100 VC-1 decoder conforms with Microsoft's PlaysForSure V2.0 specification and delivers QCIF+ Windows Media Video decoding performance on the AS3525/7 Mobile Entertainment platform.
austriamicrosystems' versatile and highly-integrated ARM9 SoC in the AS3525 and AS3527 delivers over 200MIPS of processing power and allows the implementation of an MP3 player with only 50mW total power consumption. Hantro's highly optimized 7100 VC-1 software decoder enables full motion Windows Media Video content playback on the ARM9-based design and is integrated with the system firmware available for AS3525/7 platform. These chip sets are the ideal engines to power premium MP3 players, Music Phones and Juke Phones.
