BEIJING -- AudioCodes Ltd. (NASDAQ: AUDC), a leading provider of Voice over Packet technologies and systems, today announced the launch of its Stretto 5000 Wireless Media Gateway. This mid-density Media Gateway meets the growing demands of Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) and wireless softswitch vendors for a solution that addresses the cost, feature and fault tolerance requirements of both service providers for small to medium cellular switching deployments and enterprises with large campuses. When coupled with an MSC Server, MGCF or softswitch, the feature-rich Stretto 5000 can address a variety of 2G and 3G applications including MSC replacement, Wireless Access Gateway, Trunking Gateway, IMS Gateway and/or Enterprise Gateway. The 5U Stretto 5000 supports up to 2,880 AMR, GSM and VoIP channels in the UMTS/GSM configuration or up to 2,160 EVRC, QCELP and VoIP channels in the CDMA configuration. By selecting the Stretto 5000, NEPs, softswitch vendors and system integrators can reduce their development costs and time to market and also increase their OEM margins when addressing requirements for small to medium sized media gateway deployments or large enterprises. "AudioCodes' Stretto 5000 media gateway provides a right-sized, cost-effective media gateway choice to compliment our IP-enabled CDMA2000 radio access network equipment," said Kiomars Anvari, GBase Founder, now with InterWAVE Advanced Communications, Inc. "AudioCodes fills a need in the wireless IP-enabled media gateway market for fault tolerant mid-density gateways." Stretto 5000, the medium-sized member in the AudioCodes' Stretto family of market-ready, standards-compliant wireless media gateway systems, builds on the field proven voice capabilities and expertise of AudioCodes in deploying Voice over Packet globally. The Stretto 5000 supports SS7 and ISDN PRI SigTran Interworking, as well as a variety of PSTN signaling such as MFC-R2, MF-R1 and CAS. Call control options include support for Megaco and MGCP.
