Atheros Communications announced that Willy Shih has joined the Atheros board of directors

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Atheros Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATHR) , a leading developer of advanced wireless solutions, today announced that Willy Shih has joined the Atheros board of directors. Dr. Shih has more than 25 years of marketing and engineering experience in the consumer electronics, computing and digital imaging, and display markets. In January 2007 Shih will join the Harvard Business School as a member of the faculty.

Until recently, Dr. Shih served as executive vice president and co-head of the Technology Division for Thomson, a leading provider of digital video technologies. With the Eastman Kodak Company, Dr. Shih served as senior vice president and president, Display & Components Group, senior vice president and president, Digital & Applied Imaging, and head of its corporate intellectual property strategy office. During his tenure at Kodak, he guided the company to leadership positions in the consumer digital camera, inkjet photo paper and online photofinishing markets, growing revenue in these segments to over $1.2 billion. Before joining Kodak, Dr. Shih served as vice president of marketing, Technical Computing for Silicon Graphics, a leading provider of high- performance server and storage solutions. He also held the dual roles of vice president of Windows NT and UNIX Marketing and vice president of Workstation Engineering for Digital Equipment Corporation. Before joining Digital, he spent more than 10 years in a variety of senior management roles at IBM Corporation.
