LONDON -- For the first time in mobile phone history, all evolved 3GSM technologies can be tested on a single testing platform with the SAT(A) from Anite. This flexible and unique testing platform for GSM, GPRS, EDGE, W-CDMA and HSDPA technologies is a powerful demonstration of Anite's and Agilent Technologies' wireless expertise.

Anite, a leader in providing test and measurement technology for the wireless communications industry, developed SAT(A) to offer complete flexibility for customers wanting to test 3GSM technologies and applications. The platform builds on the initiative started last year when the Agilent 8960 was chosen as the test set transceiver of choice for the Anite SAT platform.

SAT(A) preserves system flexibility which means that customers will continue to enjoy unrivalled usage profiles from their investment. That investment is further protected with the global network of Anite and Agilent offices around the world offering 24-hour support.

The platform offers full Layer 2 and Layer 3 support with upgrade paths to incorporate additional technologies, such as HSUPA, in the future. The platform can also be used for development, regression, conformance and inter-operability testing, along with Anite's unique SAS and the recently announced Application-enabler Conformance Testing (ACT) systems.

"The launch of the SAT(A) is excellent news for the market. It means Anite can fulfil customers' requirements for tools and hardware they can trust, giving a breadth of functionality not previously offered. SAT(A) will allow customers to run conformance testing themselves which can then be certified by a test house. This process saves customers any further expense, as it reduces the number of tests that have to be re-run at test houses," commented Victoria Broughton, product-marketing manager at Anite Telecoms.

LONDON -- Anite today confirms the success of its partnership with Agilent Technologies following the launch of the industry's first single-platform testing solution. The relationship was formed in 2003 to jointly develop and promote RF (radio frequency) protocol and network emulation test solutions to wireless device manufacturers, network operators and test laboratories and to achieve reduced wireless device development time and overall design costs.

SAT(A) is the latest test platform to come from the Anite-Agilent collaboration. The platform combines testing facilities for GSM, GPRS, EGPRS, W-CDMA and HSDPA into one product. With this, wireless device developers can receive consistent test results throughout the entire product development cycle, in a seamless transition from design development and regression testing through to software integration and inter-operabilitytesting.

Anite's conformance and inter-operability test systems combined with Agilent's 8960 wireless communication test set, a common test platform that offers increased consistency of test results from early design RF and protocol testing to full conformance and inter-operability verification, reliably validate software integration under real-world conditions.

"In an industry that is continuously evolving, SAT(A)'s easy upgrade paths, feature roadmap and comprehensive worldwide support will help protect customers' test system investment. Our latest platform introduces new hardware components that are sourced from Anite and Agilent and extends the capabilities of the platform significantly. Wireless developers use our products to speed the design cycle and minimise development costs whilst being confident that the final handset technology to reach the consumer meets technology standards," commented Daniel Oosthuizen, director of global sales and marketing at Anite's Telecoms division. "We are delighted to be Agilent's partner and will continue to jointly deliver the finest test solutions for developers, operators and test labs."

"SAT(A) further confirms the success of our partnership with Anite, by extending the capability of the 8960 wireless communications test set into development, protocol test and network inter-operability testing segments." said Earl Thompson, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Wireless Division. "With consumers demanding the additional and more complex features, manufacturers have to work fast to remain a serious market player. We are pleased to be able to further support wireless device developers and operators through our successful relationship with Anite, and look forward to continuing to use our combined expertise to drive the mobile market forward."
