BÖBLINGEN, Germany -- Agilent Technologies today introduced the establishment of a system-on-a-chip (SOC) design center in Gurgaon, India, near New Delhi. The center, part of an existing facility that employs 1,000 Agilent workers, provides ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) and system design services to customers of Agilent's ASIC Products Division.

The Agilent System-On-a-Chip Design Center addresses all aspects of ASIC development, including high-level design, logic design, physical design, verification, and system firmware design. Agilent expects the SOC design center to be staffed with approximately 50 engineers by the end of 2004. It complements existing ASIC design centers in Fort Collins, Colo.; Corvallis, Ore.; Boise, Idaho; Santa Clara, Calif.; Penang, Malaysia; and Singapore.

"The System-On-a-Chip Design Center in Gurgaon offers local design expertise for Agilent's ASIC customers in Asia," said Young K. Sohn, president of Agilent's Semiconductor Products Group. "We are seeing an increased level of technical design activity in this region, and this center will facilitate real-time, interactive cooperation with our important customers in Asia."

With three decades of ASIC design and manufacturing experience, Agilent offers state-of-the-art hierarchical design methodology and design-for-test capability. The company has a consistent record of first-pass success in the design and manufacture of these chips. These strengths, combined with an extensive IP portfolio, facilitate rapid integration of quality, high-performance ASICs for applications including communications, imaging, storage and computing.
