SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS, France -- A new performance benchmark standard to improve the data available for Next Generation Network (NGN) deployment decision making was presented during the latest ETSI TISPAN meeting, along with a call for further Stakeholder input.

The draft specification arrives at a time when IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Service Providers, Manufacturers and Software firms have found that existing models, such as Erlang tables and "rule-of-thumb" values, cannot provide the data that their customers require.

The IMS/ NGN Performance Benchmark (ETSI TISPAN TS 186 008) will evolve in concert with 3GPP and other standards makers - within ETSI committees and outside - developing standards to measure such attributes as Speech and Video Quality.
