ACTON, Mass. and VANCOUVER -- Tatara Systems, the worldwide leader in mobile services convergence solutions, today announced the acquisition of Xybec Solutions, a privately held Canadian developer of communications software. With a strong track record of delivering wireless WAN client technology to customers such as iPass and Bell Canada, Xybec is widely known for delivering innovative software. Tatara’s customers are some of the largest operators in the world including service providers like BT Group, O2, TELUS Mobility, and Vodafone Group.
The deal, which was completed for an undisclosed sum, will see Xybec’s headquarters in British Columbia become Tatara Vancouver. This development center is Tatara’s newest premises, and will operate alongside the company’s headquarters just outside of Boston and its European office in London.
“Converged mobile solutions must leverage multiple access networks to deliver quality services” said Dean Sirovica, Managing Director, Vodafone Group R&D. “There are very few companies with the expertise to deliver these complete solutions and the merger of Tatara and Xybec is a good example of the need to partner with the best in breed in order to offer very powerful combinations.”
“Our approach to mobile convergence includes both voice and data across devices from laptops to emerging smartphones”, said Steve Nicolle, President and CEO of Tatara Systems. “Tatara’s success has brought us early market leadership and an overwhelming set of customer opportunities with service and content providers.
