REDWOOD CITY, Calif. --CoSine Communications, Inc., a leading provider of managed, network-basedIP Service Delivery Platforms for Service Providers, announced today thatNTT Communications (NYSE: NTT) has purchased CoSine's IP Service DeliveryPlatform to provide a transcontinental, network- and IPSec-based VirtualPrivate Network (VPN) service to customers around the world.
NTT Communications, an international telecommunications carrier reachingover 200 countries worldwide, will provide an international, network-basedVPNservice that secures select corporate customers' IP traffic between NTTCommunication's Japanese network via its Tokyo Point of Presence (POP) andother locations throughout the world. NTT Communications' IPSec-based VPNservice provides business customers secure international IP transportwithoutthe operational and maintenance costs associated with VPNs built usingequipment that resides at the customer location. Instead of requiring anarray of devices located at subscriber sites all around the world, CoSine'splatform will provide VPN and IP services from within NTT Communications'POPs, where they can be centrally managed and supported by the ServiceProvider.
