BANGALORE, India and RICHARDSON, Texas -- What started as a vision shared by a small group of managers in the telecommunications industry has evolved into several past successful ventures and now global expansion plans for their emerging network technology company. That company, Mavenir Systems, announced today the opening of the company’s office in Bangalore, India, to continue its development of a solution that transcends barriers dividing core networks.

In preparation for market rollouts with top tier Asian, European and North American mobile operators in 2007, Mavenir’s Bangalore office is designed as a full service facility, housing some of the company’s research and development functions, as well as sales, support and operations. The company, which is based in the U.S. telecommunications corridor of Richardson, Texas, and already has an office in Shanghai, China, is launching in Bangalore with three full-time employees. Mavenir plans to add more than 50 people over the next year.

“Mavenir is committing a significant investment of our resources in India to help expand the technology sector and draw from Bangalore’s extensive talent pool,” said Pulin Patel, chief technology officer (CTO) for Mavenir. “We plan to use a major portion of $30 million (current and planned funding) to grow this office and build products for our global operator customers. Similar to Cisco, which recently detailed its $1.1 billion investment in the country, we think India is prime for technology and product development, ready to transition from a service-oriented outsourcing to core product development. Mavenir intends to play a strong role in this transformation.”
