CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP performance test systems, today announced its statement of direction for test solutions designed to accelerate the adoption IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Ixia's enhancements will enable IMS vendors and operators to test the complex IMS architecture thoroughly to ensure the optimum subscriber quality for a variety of services.
"An enormous market opportunity exists for vendors of all types in connection with the adoption of next generation networks and IMS,” said Tom Valovic, program director for VoIP infrastructure, IDC. "IMS is a complex architecture requiring a high level of implementation expertise. Addressing the complexities that IMS introduces to a carrier's network will be an important factor to the success of IMS.”
During its ten-year history of innovation, Ixia has helped the communications industry deploy several IP-based services including IPTV and Voice over IP (VoIP) as well as large next generation IP and MPLS network infrastructures. Ixia enabled these complex technology roll-outs by emulating both IP network protocols as well as large numbers of subscribers. Ixia's test systems provide emulation of Triple Play services (voice, video and data signaling and data) from a single platform allowing thorough characterization of devices and networks for subscriber Quality of Experience (QoE) before deployment.
Ixia is leveraging this expertise in IP technology to validate the key IMS subsystems for interoperability, functionality and performance. Ixia's IMS test solution is extremely flexible, allowing users to create a variety of customized test scenarios while providing an easy-to-use standardized testing paradigm. It also allows the user to quickly adapt the tests to match evolving and varying standards, which is so important in a new technology such as IMS. The test platform was succesfully used to validate the interoperability of a variety of devices and services at the IMS Forum's(TM) first IMS Plugfest(TM).
