RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Hatteras Networks, an innovative provider of high-bandwidth, last-mile Ethernet access and service platforms, today announced the availability of three members of its Metro Ethernet Copper Access(TM) solution. Hatteras Networks' HN4000VN and HN4000 service and aggregation platforms and HN400 Ethernet Services Transport Platform provide telecommunications carriers the ability to tap into the emerging Ethernet access market incrementally, deploying the right-size system in any size market. By fully utilizing the existing last-mile copper infrastructure to deliver high-margin, high-bandwidth enhanced business-grade Voice over IP (VoIP) and data services, carriers can use Hatteras Networks' solutions to quickly and cost-effectively extend fiber-based Ethernet services to copper-connected customers or upgrade existing private line service customers to higher-performance services.

"We tested the Hatteras Networks Metro Ethernet Copper Access platform as part of the IO Ethernet in the First Mile Certification Test Program and it passed on the system and service level," said Bob Mandeville, president and founder of Iometrix. "As the first system to successfully complete the mandatory compliance tests associated with the IEEE 802.3ah EFM draft standards, Hatteras Networks has a key first-mover advantage in satisfying carrier requirements for standards-based solutions."
