Ericsson demonstrates true converged services with commercial IMS solution
March 14, 2005
NEW ORLEANS -- Ericsson, the world leader in mobile communications, is demonstrating true convergence during the CTIA Wireless 2005 in New Orleans with a suite of end-user services running concurrently over its commercially available IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution. Live demonstrations to highlight the benefits of convergence services using GSM/WCDMA/CDMA2000, wireline and WLAN.
Ericsson will demonstrate converged services by showing Ericsson Instant Talk, Always Best Connected, weShare whiteboard, video conferencing, chat and gaming applications, as well as common enablers, such as presence and group-list management, across all applications. IMS will help provide a seamless, consistent experience across multiple access technologies, devices and locations, whether wireline or wireless, narrowband, wideband or broadband, business or personal.
"The implementation of IMS signals a fundamental shift in the way telecom services are created and delivered, helping bring about true fixed-mobile convergence for the next wave of multimedia applications," said Mikael Stromquist, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Marketing, Ericsson North America. "Ericsson's IMS solution provides mobile and fixed operators a secure migration to all-IP architecture and enables them to meet end-user demands for new, enriched services."
