MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Network Physics, the leader in network application infrastructure management, today announced the appointment of Fred Runco to the company's executive team in the newly created post of chief financial officer (CFO).

"Continued strong revenue growth and excellent traction with customers across a wide variety of industries has put us on a path to profitability," said David Jones, CEO and president of Network Physics. "With his extensive, hands-on financial experience in both the public and private sectors, Fred is uniquely qualified to help us during this transitional period."

As CFO, Runco will provide leadership across a range of financial/accounting, human resources, legal, facilities and office management functions. Runco brings extensive experience in general and cost accounting disciplines as well as financial planning and analysis, mergers and acquisitions, and public reporting for both the public and private sectors. Runco comes to Network Physics from 3ware Inc. (now part of Applied Micro Circuits Corporation). As CFO at 3ware, Runco was responsible for reducing the monthly close cycle from two weeks to five days; implementing various financial, inventory and control processes; and restructuring the company to bring it to breakeven monthly operations.

Prior to 3ware, Runco worked as corporate controller and director of finance at CIDCO Inc., where he increased cash balances nearly 150 percent. He has held increasingly responsible senior financial management positions at Litton Applied Technology, Verbatim Corporation, GenRad Semiconductor, Amdahl and TRW. Fred holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Ohio, and a Master's Degree, with an emphasis in Finance, from Santa Clara University.
