WATERLOO, Ontario -- Sandvine, (TSX: SVC)(AIM: SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for DSL, FTTH, cable and wireless carriers, today announced that it has launched Sandvine Search Guide to augment its Service Creation portfolio. One North American service provider has selected Sandvine Search Guide to realize a new advertising revenue stream, protect subscribers and improve Internet navigation. The Search Guide technology resulted from the acquisition of Simplicita Software, Inc. this past June.

When subscribers make common browsing errors or attempt to access known phishing sites, Sandvine Search Guide automatically offers safe, viable alternatives with paid and algorithmic search results. For example, Sandvine Search Guide would redirect users from undesired error messages when they mistype popular URLs, such as www.sandvone.com, or when they request a non-existent domain. The subscriber-friendly solution allows users to configure personal preferences or opt out of the service completely.

New Revenue Stream for Service Providers without Incurring Costs

Service providers receive revenue when their subscribers click on clearly-labeled sponsored links presented along with unpaid algorithmic web search results generated in response to navigation errors.

A North American broadband provider has deployed Sandvine Search Guide across its network of over one-million DSL subscribers and has seen tremendous response and uptake by subscribers.

"Sandvine Search Guide helps service providers protect their subscribers from potentially malicious web sites while generating revenues from search results by increasing their ARPU or average revenue per subscriber," said Tom Donnelly, EVP, Marketing and Sales at Sandvine. "This new revenue stream is enabled without incurring additional infrastructure investment and allows service providers to enhance their subscribers' Internet experience."
