SAN FRANCISCO and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Narus, Inc. today announced significant enhancements to its NarusInsight Secure Suite (NSS) application. Historically used for network security and mitigation, enhancements to NSS provide enhanced managed security. Narus also announced two new applications for real-time traffic intelligence: NarusInsight Traffic Management Suite (NTMS) and NarusInsight Traffic Intelligence Platform (NTIP). NTMS addresses service provider revenue loss by detecting, analyzing and mitigating gray or unmanaged VoIP traffic, while NTIP is offered as a customizable, high-performance traffic intelligence application development platform for service providers and governments. Both are based on Narus’ award-winning NarusInsight™ technology.

NarusInsight Secure Suite (NSS)
Designed for large enterprises, service providers and government organizations to protect and manage their IP networks, NSS provides real-time identification and mitigation of any unwanted, unwarranted or malicious traffic. Enhancements to NSS enable service providers to offer enhanced managed security services to their enterprise customers. New NSS features include:

  • Enhanced customer portal to view enterprise customers’ real-time event and network usage

  • Network security reports by customer outlining cost savings, amount of bandwidth saved and number of attacks addressed

  • Reports by customer on application usage statistics and trends, inbound and outbound traffic usage statistics, and a list of users consuming the most bandwidth

NarusInsight Traffic Management Suite (NTMS)
Designed specifically for global service providers, NTMS is a flexible, scalable application suite that provides real-time IP traffic classification, analysis and mitigation with a particular focus on detecting gray or unmanaged VoIP traffic. An increasingly popular form of communication, VoIP services revenue is estimated to reach $18 billion by 2010, according to Juniper Research.

Unfortunately for many service providers and governments, a significant percentage of VoIP traffic is gray VoIP, typically used to avoid tariffs and toll charges incurred for a voice call. As a result, service providers are losing millions of dollars in service revenue, and governments are losing an equal amount in toll-related taxes.

By implementing NTMS, service providers will be able to detect, mitigate and report on the traffic (including asymmetric traffic) going through their network; generate VoIP alerts; and create “black lists” and access list activity. This total network view results in improved system performance, lower operational expenses and a protected revenue stream.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Narus, Inc. announced today that 2007 was the company’s most successful in its 10-year history. Aside from record revenue and sales, Narus delivered four technology and product releases, added numerous new customers and partners, launched a new offshore development center, and appointed five key executives. In fact, 2007 proved even more successful than forecasted, greatly underscoring Narus’ position as the leader in providing traffic intelligence for protecting and managing large IP networks.

The market for traffic intelligence has finally begun to solidify. Customers now appreciate the value of a system that integrates network traffic with the applications to protect, manage and drive revenue from their businesses. In the next three years, network-centric IP traffic intelligence systems for security, intercept and management will grow to over $1.3 billion, with a CAGR of 30 percent.

“Narus has the unique ability to have visibility into all layers of the network traffic, scaling to extremely high performance levels, and having a global customer base to prove their value,” said Brian Partridge, senior analyst from Yankee Group. “With Narus’ application additions this past year, they are poised to capture material market share over the next two years.”
