NetLogic Microsystems accelerates move to 400MHz with NL6000 evaluation kit for network application designers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq:NETL - News), the leader in the design and development of knowledge-based processors, today announced the availability of its high-speed evaluation kit for supporting the 400MHz operation of the NL6000-family of knowledge-based processors.

The evaluation kit consists of an evaluation card, software suite with sample scripts and test cases, allowing system architects to quickly prototype networking applications for Edge, Core, Access, Metro and Enterprise switches, routers and access equipment using a Windows®-based PC prior to having proprietary boards and ASICs available.

The evaluation kit enables customers to use the PCI-based evaluation card to develop and verify intended applications at operating speeds of 400MHz for the highest performance and with a 1.0V core voltage for lowest power. Customers can run cycle-accurate patterns through an on-board FPGA that fully exercises the functionality of NetLogic Microsystems NL6000 devices and confirm compatibility with target applications. The evaluation card supports up to four NL6000 products, accommodating more than two million IPv4 or half a million IPv6 records.

Designers can also use the evaluation kit to develop test cases for rapid simulation of the device with tens of millions of cycles using the provided Perl-driven scripts. These scripts also provide the ability to automatically check the device output against expected results. The card can then be integrated into customer-specific test platforms with the supplied drivers and software to provide high-level programming of test cases.
