TAIPEI and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- NetLogic Microsystems, the technology leader in network search engines, today announced volume production shipments and strong yields of the world’s highest density logic device, NetLogic’s 18Mb NSE5512 network search engine.Built on industry-leading 130nm (0.13 micron) process technology from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the NSE5512 contains over 300 million transistors of which approximately 200 million are used in memory cells and 100 million are used for logic. According to NetLogic, the NSE5512 is the densest, high-speed logic semiconductor currently in production from any manufacturing facility. The device is currently performing at 233 MHz, the fastest speed achieved in the industry for any density search engine. A single chip supports simultaneous searches on 512K IPv4 entries, greatly increasing the capabilities of next generation switches, routers and other communications infrastructure equipment.“We are extremely pleased with achieving excellent die yields with our largest database size network search engine,” said Ron Jankov, president and CEO of NetLogic Microsystems. “NetLogic’s in-house design teams have collaborated closely with TSMC’s top process and R&D scientists to produce the 18Mb NSE5512 and we are delighted about TSMC’s ability to deliver volume requirements of this breakthrough device. This is a big step for the industry, for NetLogic, and for our customers.”NetLogic Microsystems Inc.
