STOCKHOLM -- Net Insight receives order of equipment for uncompressed HDTV

The order comes from an independent test institute that evaluates new technology for broadcasters in Europe. HDTV (High Definition TV) is expected to be widely used at live broadcasting of sports and cultural events as well as when producing TV where TV studios in different cities cooperate.

In the production process the uncompressed camera streams are transported through a fiber network to the broadcasters' studios where the signals are mixed, and graphics and other information are added before the program is distributed to the receivers in a compressed format.

An uncompressed HDTV signal corresponds to 1485 megabit per second and puts extremely high demands on the network's transmission quality. With the Nimbra 340-HD Net Insight has supplemented its product family with a product that can receive and transport uncompressed HDTV with maintained quality regardless the size of the network.

Net Insight has during the last years grown into being an international leading company when it comes to transmit all forms of professional TV and video in parallel to voice and data in fiber networks. Net Insight has succeeded to combine the highest technical quality with very high cost efficiency.

"This is our first order of the Nimbra 340 with HD-SDI interface, and through the increased use of HDTV we are now experiencing a growing demand for equipment that can transport uncompressed HDTV over fiber networks," said Tomas Duffy, CEO of Net Insight.

In a separate release:

STOCKHOLM -- Net Insight has received another add-on order from a media operator in Europe for the expansion of an international media network to a number of cities in Europe. The network transports real time critical traffic for live broadcasting of sport, news and entertainment.

"Our existing customers order additional equipment for their media networks on a continuous basis which strengthens our position on the professional media market, both in Europe and the US", says Tomas Duffy, CEO of Net Insight.

By using Net Insight's Nimbra platform in the network the operator receives a network solution with maximum utilization of the network and a 100% guaranteed quality of service which gives the operator an opportunity to significantly lower both CAPEX and OPEX.
