NBC, iTunes Changing the Game?

  • The NBC/iTunes deal is a sign of what's coming: a market-based online content sales system. This will include different prices for different songs, movies, and TV shows (not just the current mini-tiered system), greater control over content by the producers, and a restructuring of compensation and royalties.

  • AT&T debuts its Comcast competitor, Total Home DVR, in the Bay area. The service will connect up to seven set-top boxes in a home, and it is free... for now.

  • Limelight delivers Flash-streamed video for France's M6. The CDN has their successful delivery of online video for the Euro2008 soccer tournament to thank for the contract.

  • Swarmcast opens up shop in Switzerland, as European content owners flock to online video.
