Myrio Signs Up Telco for IP Video Platform

Think phone companies of all sizes aren't gearing up to offer video services? Think again. The latest sign comes today with the announcement that Myrio Corp., a provider of IP video software and services, has signed up Consolidated Communications as its latest customer. Consolidated, the 15th largest local phone company in the U.S. with more than 250,000 access lines, said it's already deploying Myrio's middleware to offer digital video services to more than 50,000 subscribers in central Illinois. The new digital services include video-on-demand (VOD) and pay-per-view. With the launch of video servics, Consolidated is now offering a triple-play bundle of video, voice and data to about 20% of its customer base. The IP video deployment is Myrio's largest so far in the U.S. phone market. Appropriately enough, Myrio made the announcement at the TelcoTV Show in Orlando.
