Vodafone's not bidding for MTN

MTN M&A Update

11:15 AM -- Vodafone Group plc (NYSE: VOD) says it's not interested in bidding for emerging markets mobile operator MTN Group Ltd. , according to a report in the Financial Times. The world's largest operator by revenue was checking out MTN last week, but decided not get involved in a bidding war for the African and Middle Eastern mobile operator. Instead, Vodafone is keen to increase its 50 percent stake in South Africa's Vodacom Pty. Ltd.

Meanwhile MTN is in takeover talks with Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Mumbai: BHARTIARTL).
