PHOENIX -- Optical components and subsystems manufacturer Micro Photonix Integration Corporation (MPI) launched its new Polarization Controller at the Optical Fiber Conference March 19-21 in Anaheim, Calif. Designed for Polarization Mode Dispersion compensation in next-generation networks, the device offers the ability to adjust polarization state to any orientation. Based on MPI's proven lithium niobate technology, the Polarization Controller provides endless, reset-free polarization conversion for a variety of applications. Used in conjunction with control circuitry, the unit can maintain a specific polarization of light across a single-mode fiber in both 10 and 40 Gigabit per second (Gb/s) networks. MPI's Polarization Controller will be available in three, five and eight stage configurations and comes in a compact, board-mountable package.

"As transmission speeds in optical networks increase, polarization mode dispersion and overall polarization control become limiting factors. MPI's Polarization Controller will become an important tool for dealing with these issues in the future." said MPI founder and chief executive officer Henry Hung.
