Advanced silicon germanium carbon clock driver family provides new choices for system design to 3.0 GHz

AUSTIN, Texas -- Motorola's ES6000 Series Offers Unprecedented Performance And Lowest Output Skew for Mid-Range to High-End Systems Digital systems designers now have new choices for delivering highly accurate clock signals in performance-driven applications requiring up to 3 GHz. Motorola (NYSE: MOT), the market share leader in integrated circuits for communications systems, today announced the new ES6000 series of clock drivers fabricated in advanced Silicon Germanium Carbon (SiGe:C) process technology. With seven new devices to address telecommunications, computing, networking and instrumentation applications, this SiGe:C family of clocks covers a wide range of performance, power and timing needs. The first member of this new family, the MC100ES6226 device, is a 1:9 differential Positive Emitter Coupled Logic (PECL) clock fanout buffer and clock divider. It is available now in production quantities, along with its companion evaluation board. "We are the first major clock supplier to meet the demand for precisely aligned, high-speed clock signals with a family of silicon germanium clock products," said Dr. R. John Fairholme, director of operations for Motorola's Timing Solutions Group. "These products serve an array of system timing needs and provide significant improvements in frequency and output skew over previous technologies.
