Vodafone Femto Ads Banned

4:20 AM -- Vodafone UK will have to take down advertisements for its Sure Signal femtocell because the Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that they are misleading.

The judgment is a blow to the operator's national femto ad campaign, which boasts that "Only Vodafone can guarantee mobile signal in your home." (See Vodafone Revs Femto Engine and Brits Get Femtos From July 1 .)

Telefónica UK Ltd. , T-Mobile (UK) , and several more complainants objected to the ads on many grounds. The ASA upheld most of the mobile operators' objections, and ordered that the ads should not appear again in their current form. The final ruling on the case is here.
