FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS), a leading provider of communications technologies and solutions for converged and mobile networks, today announced it has expanded the reach of its AccessGate™ backhaul optimization solution (www.nmscommunications.com/accessgate) by partnering with OlenCom Electronics, a Russian-based developer and marketer of data and telecommunications solutions.

Like many developing markets, Russia is experiencing explosive mobile subscriber growth, and operators in this region are seeking cost-effective and high quality solutions to accommodate this growth. NMS’s AccessGate solution employs aggregation and bandwidth optimization techniques that enable wireless operators to maximize backhaul network efficiency. The solution optimizes GSM networks by eliminating redundant silence and idle frames, resulting in backhaul traffic reductions of up to 50 percent. AccessGate can also aggregate UMTS traffic onto the same backhaul, eliminating the need for deploying and maintaining separate 2G and 3G networks. This allows operators to continue to expand their networks to meet the demands of new subscribers and services, without having to overhaul or replace their existing infrastructure.

“AccessGate perfectly complements the solutions we are currently providing to our operator customers throughout Russia, including TDM, VoIP and wireless access solutions. AccessGate meets an immediate need for Russian operators as they roll out services to tens of thousands of new subscribers each month,” said Sergey Nesmachny, VP of business development, OlenCom. “We are confident AccessGate will be very well received among our vast network of operator customers.”

“Developing regions such as Russia are seeing tremendous mobile subscriber growth, and AccessGate offers a future-proofed solution for operators in these areas to quickly and cost-effectively accommodate that growth without having to replace their existing infrastructure,” said John Orlando, chief marketing officer for NMS. “OlenCom is a leading distributor in Russia and this partnership will provide us with access to the major mobile operators throughout this critical region.”
