Edward Snowden's revelations about the antics of the National Security Agency and the UK's GCHQ have had ramifications across the whole of the communications sector, including mobile operators.

In a video interview now available on Light Reading, Heavy Reading senior analyst Patrick Donegan says that mobile operators are experiencing something of a "negative impact" in terms of data service usage following the Snowden revelations. As a result, service providers are now focused on the different ways in which they can protect their customers' privacy and communicating their customer privacy strategies.

Donegan also talks about the different network security challenges operators are facing as they build out their all-IP 4G LTE networks.
