Eurobites: Mystery Bid in for Telekom Slovenije

  • The Slovenian government has received one binding bid for a controlling 72.75% stake in Telekom Slovenije , reports Reuters, though the investment fund handling the sale gave no clues as to the identity of the bidder. But according to Reuters' unnamed sources, investment fund Cinven Ltd. was the one making the move, rather than Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT), which is also thought to be interested in the operator.

  • Telefónica Deutschland GmbH has gone with Coriant 's LTE-optimized IP/MPLS router offering to support its mobile backhaul upgrade, which it is undertaking partly to integrate the previously separate O2 and E-Plus network infrastructures.   • Swisscom AG (NYSE: SCM) is launching what it calls "the multimedia successor to teletext" on its Swisscom TV 2.0 service. Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV for short) allows multimedia content to be displayed on screen during the broadcast of a program. Swisscom TV 2.0 was launched a year ago and the operator claims more than 450,000 households are now taking it.

  • UK startup DataSift, which analyzes social media for companies wanting to know how certain brands are perceived, is feeling hard done by following Twitter Inc. 's decision to remove its free feed of "raw Tweets," reports the Daily Telegraph. DataSift has raised more than ₤50 million (US$73 million) in venture capital.

  • Swedish broadband provider Bahnof has chosen Tilgin AB to be its supplier of home gateways for its fiber-to-the-home service.

  • The launch of Thor 7, Telenor Satellite Broadcasting's latest bird, has been put back until April 24 following a problem at the launch pad in French Guiana, reports Broadband TV News.
