STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been chosen by AIS to expand its existing GSM/EDGE network in Bangkok in a contract worth USD 110 million. The expansion will allow AIS to increase both its network coverage and capacity.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will have turnkey responsibility for building the network, providing network design, deployment and integration services, including core and radio network. Ericsson will also provide its spare part management service, lowering AIS's operational costs.

With increased network capacity and coverage, AIS's subscribers will enjoy superior quality and performance.

Wichien Mektrakarn, President of AIS, says: "The selection of Ericsson reinforces the existing close partnership between the two companies and ensures that we have a world-leading provider of proven mobile technology."

In a separate release:

STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) announced today its agreement with Vietnamese operator Saigon Postel Telecommunication Company (SPT) to build a nationwide IMS-based multimedia network in Vietnam, including Ericsson's Telephony Softswitch.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will be the sole supplier of the IMS system for SPT's nationwide network expansion and upgrade. Ericsson will also supply a comprehensive range of professional telecommunication services to ensure successful network delivery.

Pham Ngoc Tuan, SPT President says the company's plan is to take advantage of new technology to stay ahead of competition in providing telecom quality IP multimedia services in the most cost-efficient way.

"We find Ericsson's IMS solution suitable for our current and future requirements in evolving SPT network to all IP, providing us a good platform for efficient introduction of new multimedia services such as voice, data, audio and video," he says.

In an additional release:

STOCKHOLM -- PT Telekomunikasi Selular Indonesia (Telkomsel) has awarded Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) an expanded area of responsibility for managed services in Indonesia. Ericsson will broaden its comprehensive services offering in the country to managing the operations of Telkomsel's multivendor 3G/WCDMA network.

This is an extension to the scope of a managed services contract signed earlier this year, under which Telkomsel chose Ericsson to deliver and deploy a 3G/WCDMA radio and core network including HSPA and managed services. The network deployment is progressing as planned.

Ericsson will expand its managed services responsibility to include Telkomsel's operation, management and maintenance of a third-party radio access network in Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua.

Bengt Thornberg, president of PT Ericsson Indonesia, said: "We are very honored to be awarded this expanded scope in our managed services agreement with Telkomsel. This certainly reinforces the strong partnership between us."
