Motorola Could Get the Tablet Habit

Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) could potentially follow Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL), HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ), and others into the mobile tablet market. (See iPad Rivals Loom.)
Moto's top mobile devices exec, Sanjay Jha, was asked about the possibility of his company producing an iPad-like device. "We are very engaged with this marketplace, with tablets being just one form factor for these devices," he told analysts.
The co-CEO appears to envisage greater integration for media services between mobile devices and cable set-tops and home gateways. This would obviously be a logical area to address for a company with mobile device and cable equipment units. (See Moto Ships 100M 'Digital Entertainment' Devices.)
Interestingly, Motorola has already put together a tablet prototype for Verizon Wireless . The carrier showed it off during its LTE showcase at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas in January. (See CES 2010: LTE in Pictures.)

Jha didn't, however, give any details on possible launch plans for a tablet or any other similar mobile media devices.
