Steve Jobs put rumors of a seven-inch iPad to rest during Apple's earnings call yesterday. "The reason we [won't] make a 7-inch tablet isn't because we don't want to hit that price point, it's because we think the screen is too small to express the software. As a software driven company we think about the software strategies first," he said on the call.
iPad sales missed the mark in Apple's earnings yesterday, with 4.19 million shipments of the device compared with analyst estimates around 4.7 million, and some that were even higher. Apple suggested that it was a supply issue on yesterday's earnings call.
Recent reports suggest that Apple may release an iPad with landscape mode. According to the Patently Apple blog, a European patent filing shows an iPad with docking ports on both the bottom and the edge of the left side, suggesting it could be used in both portrait and landscape orientation.
