CES 2014: Do Robots Dream of Electric Scooters?

LAS VEGAS -- CES 2014 -- Covering the massive consumer electronics show is more fun if you tackle it as if you were Rutger Hauer's android anti-hero in the film Blade Runner.

Basically, you walk round the endless show floors thinking to yourself:

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Robots wordlessly cleaning windows under neon lights. I've watched colorful 3D printed rabbits off the Southern hall. All those moments will soon be lost in time, like smart watches in... the rain.

CES 2014 was just as crowded and busy as ever.
CES 2014 was just as crowded and busy as ever.

It helps keep your mind off the unavoidable lines, buzzing Segways, and epic flight delays.

Re: Great picture report The new 3 wheeled stand-up alone scooters were actually more dangerous, way too high-powered for my liking. I basically think their should be a rule that if you are, in fact, able-bodied and able to walk around the convention center unaided then you should do that. I know its a long distance but its just gonna get worse the more people start to use a scooter or a segway.

Great picture report Great pics from CES!!

Did the Segways come with an insurance policy (for everyone else, that is...)?

I'm guessing, Dan, that you camped out at the Hot Dog truck for almost an entire day -- I know how much you like reconstituted offal.

Re: Segways?! the guy on a segway is like a 100x scarier version of robocop... just my two cents!

Segways?! Segways? Really? It's hard enough to walk through CES. I can't imagine navigating around segways. How many incidents of trade floor road rage did you see (or inflict)?
