1:20 PM -- We're waiting to see what the hotly anticipated launch of the iPad 2 from Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) in San Francisco will bring today.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has unveiled the iPad 2, which is said to run graphics up to nine times faster than its older sibling, thanks to a dual-core A5 processor.
I've never seen the Apple crew so bluntly compare and contrast app numbers as they did between iPad and the "100 apps" for Google's "Honeycomb" tablet OS. Leads me to wonder if they're more concerned about it than their outward confidence would suggest.
Supportinging 4G together with long battery life is problematic right now even with smart phones. It will take a while before the 4G IC's are optimised for low Pd.
I think they've been scared for awhile now. Usually Apple event invites are very mysterious, but this one made it clear it was for the iPad 2. The short time between announcement and availability also suggests they know they have to move fast.
Garage Band demo looks pretty cool (without the ability to actually see or hear it. :() Looks like the iPad 2 is moving away from content consumption to content creation as well.
Anyone seeing anything in the iPad 2 that will cause lots of existing iPad 1 owners to wipe and sell off their older tablets and purchase the latest and greatest version? Not sure I see much save for the people who absolutely can't do without whatever is new from Apple. JB.
Verizon has led the way with early high-band, millimeter-wave 5G, but the carrier faces lots of questions about how it can deploy 5G on low- or mid-band frequencies nationwide next year.
And on both AT&T and Verizon AND for the same price as the first. Well played. Only thing better would be a 4G version...
