China Unicom Wants Android

9:25 AM -- China Unicom Ltd. (NYSE: CHU) is keener than ever on having smartphones that run on Google (Nasdaq: GOOG)'s Android operating system, according to this Reuters report.
In January, Google delayed the launch of two Android-powered handsets from Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and Samsung Corp. that were meant for China Unicom's network after a high-profile spat the search giant had with China over a hacking incident. (See Google's China Beef Spreads to Android .)
But Unicom's chairman Chang Xiaobing told Reuters at a conference in Beijing on Wednesday that the company "will definitely use Google's Android in our mobile handsets." He also said that Unicom recognized Android as a "mainstream system."
