BT's WiMax Wish

10:15 AM -- BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA)'s CEO-designate, Ian Livingston, says the British operator will consider investing in WiMax as a way to expand further into mobile services, according to a Financial Times article.

But the operator has not yet committed to bidding in the upcoming 2.6 GHz auction in the U.K. (See Verwaayen Set to Leave BT, Brits Kickstart Broadband Spectrum Offer, BT Wants WiMax.)

BT might gain some WiMax experience from Italy, where BT Global Services unit BT Italia will use the technology to reach corporate and SME customers. (See BT Does WiMax in Italy and BT's Italian WiMax.)
