Sprint Promises LTE Devices in Early 2012
"We will be delivering dual-mode CDMA [3G] and LTE devices in the first half of 2012," Fared Adib, Sprint VP of product development and operations, said at the operator's strategy day.
The LTE roadmap includes 15 devices at the moment, Adib elaborated, including smartphones and tablets. Motorola Mobility LLC and other partners will likely be among the vendors delivering devices.
Sprint said Friday that it has now started to deploy LTE on its 3G PCS (1900MHz) spectrum. The operator will launch its first LTE markets in mid-2012, finish the deployment in 2014 and run 3G and 4G services concurrently in the spectrum for the time being. (See Sprint to Launch LTE by Mid-2012.)
