And, get ready, because the second annual social media survey is coming next! We added more questions about mobile social network usage, since so many of you clearly have an active mobile life.

And those of us with inactive, immobile, nonsocial lives can figure things out for ourselves.

A lot of underemployed or unemployed journalists might find that remark to be ironic.

You can go read a newspaper by yourself.

We sometimes hear that people have no idea how much mobile data they use measured in GB. But it doesn't seem like your respondents had much trouble with that question.

Was there perhaps a "don't know" category that was omitted from the slide show graphic?

As a follow up, I realize this is a specialized (& higher tech than average) audience so perhaps that explains it.

re: Mobile Life 2012 Survey Slide Show

A couple of interesting data points in your slide show suggest some marketing opportunities for mobile operators:

1- More than half of respondents pay for more than 1 service plan, including 9% that pay for 3-5 plans

2- Nearly 14% of mobile users exceed their data caps every month or 2.

Those are some hefty percentages & it seems like those people should be excellent targets for different plans.

We didn't include a "don't know" response, but we asked them to estimate, so I'm not sure if it's an accurate representation of how much they use. A lot (42%) were still on unlimited plans though, so they might not be as concerned with tracking it.

re: Mobile Life 2012 Survey Slide Show

I was definitely surprised by how many people/households are paying multiple data plans. Only half had a tablet, but of those, 30% had more than one in their household. That's a lot of bills if they're using connectivity, along with their smartphones. Some spoiled kids, I think!

re: Mobile Life 2012 Survey Slide Show

who are the folks using more than 30 apps once a week?

that seems like it would be a gamer, a stock watcher, an app developer -- what other jobs/types of people would cycle through that many apps?
