MegaFon and Yota sign agreement on joint development of LTE networks in Russia

MOSCOW -- MegaFon and Yota signed an agreement on joint development of LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks in Russia.

In compliance with the agreement terms and conditions MegaFon will be able to provide LTE services using Yota equipment, and Yota will be able to use the network infrastructure of MegaFon.

This alliance has the key task of providing the subscribers with the access to the modern technology and services, making them more available and attractive through more efficient capital expenditures for construction of LTE and reduction of OPEX.

«Implementation of agreement with Yota will enable our customers in the nearest future to use LTE communication in MegaFon’s network at high speeds with no loss of quality”, said Sergey Soldatenkov, Chief Executive Officer of MegaFon.

“Cooperation with MegaFon will let it possible for us to implement our plans of LTE network development, and subscribers of both companies will be able to use the Forth Generation communication in 2012 already”, added Denis Sverdlov, Director of Scartel (Yota brand).
