LTE Dawns in Hong Kong

7:10 AM -- Hong Kong CSL Ltd. is poised to launch Long Term Evolution (LTE). The operator, together with its network supplier ZTE Corp. (Shenzhen: 000063; Hong Kong: 0763), is demonstrating the technology at the LTE Asia 2010 conference in Hong Kong this week. (See CSL Demos HSPA+/LTE Rollout and CSL, ZTE OK HK LTE.)

The Hong Kong operator, a subsidiary of Telstra Corp. Ltd. (ASX: TLS; NZK: TLS), is upgrading its network to 42-Mbit/s dual-cell high-speed packet access plus (HSPA+) and LTE at the same time. CSL's CTO Christian Daigneault's excitement is barely contained in the press release. "We are on the threshold of a quantum leap in telecommunications technology with the LTE launch," he gushed.

We caught up with Daigneault at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year. Click on the image below to hear about his ambitious network upgrade project:
