Lawsuits Loom for UK LTE Auction

9:20 AM -- Here's an example of why the UK will end up as a second-rate broadband nation.

The Financial Times reports that Telefónica UK Ltd. and Vodafone UK are considering taking legal action after the government announced proposals last week for auctioning new mobile broadband spectrum, which can be used for Long Term Evolution (LTE). (See UK Spectrum Auction Likely in 2011, Britain Botches Broadband, Digital Britain Disappoints, Ofcom Delays 2.6GHz Auction, and Down on the (Re)Farm.)

The Brits need to pull their fingers out and stop giving their lawyers so much to do.
