German Spectrum Auction: Day 7

9:05 AM -- After seven days and 59 rounds of Germany's spectrum auction, the bidding has come to a total of €562 million (US$755 million). The bidding so far looks sensible and disciplined, especially considering that these are the only frequencies that will be released to mobile operators in Germany for a long time.

Germany's four mobile operators -- E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH , Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT), Telefónica O2 Germany GmbH & Co. OHG , and Vodafone Germany -- are the only participants in the auction, and they are bidding heaviest for the 800MHz frequency band. Bids for spectrum blocks in the 800MHz band totaled €400 million ($537 million) at the end of day 7. And E-Plus is currently the biggest bidder for this spectrum.

The latest results of the spectrum auction are updated daily here on the German regulator Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) 's Website.
