German Spectrum Auction: Day 26

9:25 AM -- As surely as the Eyjafjollyollyoxenfree volcano in Iceland will go on erupting, it seems Germany's mobile operators will go on bidding in the country's big spectrum auction, which is now in its fifth week.

After 26 days and 194 rounds, bids in the German spectrum auction totalled €3.3 billion (US$4 billion). The four participating operators -- E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH , Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT), Telefónica O2 Germany GmbH & Co. OHG , and Vodafone Germany -- show no signs of stopping, although the bidding activity has slowed down recently.

For about the last week, there have been no bids for the valuable 800MHz frequency bands as operators have shifted their attention to other frequencies, namely the 2.6GHz band. All of the spectrum on offer in the auction is suitable for Long Term Evolution (LTE).

The spectrum auction results are updated daily here on the German regulator Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) 's Website.
