AT&T: 7 Up for LTE 4G

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is starting to look more like Calamity Jane than Ma Bell as the operator continues to crack the whip on its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) deployment.

AT&T said Thursday that it has added seven more LTE towns and cities to its growing list. That makes its total 11 for the week and 116 in all.

The new markets are: Reno, Nev.; Richmond, Va; Allentown-Bethlehem, Pa; Hattiesburg and Starkville, Miss.; Moscow, Idaho; and Pullman, Wash.

Why this matters
Verizon Wireless is still easily the bigger player in the U.S. LTE game, with 441 markets. AT&T, however, is now spanking Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S) for second place, with more than double the LTE available. Dan Hesse and crew currently have 43 LTE markets up and running. For more
