T-Mob Cuts Data Roaming

8:50 AM -- Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT) clearly senses that European Commissioner Viviane Reding is on the warpath again over mobile roaming fees and that it is perhaps best to show that its mobile operator T-Mobile International AG is making an effort to reduce data roaming charges. (See Reding Guns for Data Roaming Cuts.)

Following the blunt ultimatum and stark warning that Reding issued yesterday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, T-Mobile's chief executive Hamid Akhavan announced today that the operator will offer one price across its markets in Europe for data usage, which will be €2 ($3) per Mbyte of data downloaded, reports Reuters. The operator will also offer a daily rate of €15 ($22) for up to 50 Mbytes for heavier data users.
