NEC Wins DoCoMo Deal

TOKYO -- NEC Corporation announced that it has supplied High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) infrastructure systems to NTT DoCoMo, which successfully launched a HSDPA service in Japan on August 31, 2006.

Prior to this commercial service, NTT DoCoMo conducted a field trial of the high-speed network which NEC cooperated and supplied HSDPA infrastructure systems including node-B base stations and radio network controllers (RNC). During the trial, the performance of NEC's HSDPA systems was verified through the achievement of a maximum data download speed in the commercial HSDPA service area of 3.6Mbps and other features such as flexible and variable transmission speed control in various radio wave environments.

"HSDPA is an important service for NTT DoCoMo which provides advanced high speed data transmission to our customers. The first worldwide commercial 3.6Mbps data transmission service was realized with the cooperation of NEC and other vendor partners.
