MWC 2009: Nokia Siemens Booth Tour

What exactly do the main mobile network infrastructure vendors do when they're approached at a show like last week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and asked to give an interested visitor a 20-minute guided tour highlighting the major technologies and topics of interest?

Light Reading decided to find out this year by giving five companies -- Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU), Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC), Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. , Nokia Networks , and Nortel Networks Ltd. -- 20 minutes each to give us their best.

The results, as you might expect, were variable, in terms of content, presentation, and logistics, despite days of notice on our part.

Here's the first stand tour -- Nokia Siemens Networks. Housed in Hall 8 on the Barcelona show grounds, the company this year was as focused on the impact of mobile developments on individuals, operators, and the world at large, as it was on the technology it had to offer:

re: MWC 2009: Nokia Siemens Booth Tour Nortel is next - coming today.
Of the five tours, three were well executed, one was average, and one was poor.
The Nokia Siemens effort fits into the 'well executed' category.

You'll find out which ones didn't make that grade by the end of tomorrow.

re: MWC 2009: Nokia Siemens Booth Tour

I found some Nokia Siemens base station controller components on goodreason.co.uk

They were ordered by Telefonica O2. I'm shocked at the amount of information obtained from-Ša person outside these-Šorganisations. Make you think, why on earth this stuff got lost in the first place.-Š

What more alarming is the amount of waste of resources in the matter.-Š Apparently, the CEO of Nokia Siemens is aware of this.

Very interesting to know what happens when parcels get lost in the post.
